Cornwall - a destination for all seasons

There is so much to see and so much going on throughout the year in Cornwall, that the county has become a firm year-round destination.

Spring comes early to Cornwall, heralded by daffodils as early as February, birdsong, a plethora of wild and cultivated flora, some seen nowhere else in Britain, warmth, bright skies and lighter evenings. The Great Gardens are a must in the springtime

Summer speaks for itself - lazy days on the beach, swimming, barbecues, cream teas, long hot days.

Autumn is a time of brilliant colour as the leaves turn from green to yellow, russet and orange.  This is a great time for walking in the countryside or on the cliffs. There is so much to see as nature settles down for the winter.

Winter is short in Cornwall.  The season doesn't really start until December, and nature is waking up again in February.  Crisp days will invite a brisk walk on a deserted beach or onto the cliffs to see the power of an Atlantic storm, then back to Polgwedhen Lodge for a cosy afternoon tea.

Christmas is much celebrated in Cornwall.  The famous lights at Mousehole, Angarrack and Newlyn Harbour are on everyone's calendar, the shops and Christmas markets in towns and villages add a fairytale atmosphere  and the National Trust houses are dressed for Christmas, their gardens lit up in the evening and various festive events staged.  The Christmas season is a great experience in Cornwall.

***Polgwedhen Lodge is open at Christmas and New Year - an ideal escape, and a magical time just for two***

Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter, it's all here waiting for you at Polgwedhen Lodge.
