The Grounds
Polgwedhen Lodge is one on its own, surrounded by private gardens next to a stunning
ornamental lake.

Aquatic plants such as water lily, day lily and iris are well established.
There is an interesting variety of plantings in the gardens including camellias, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, massed spring bulbs and ornamental shrubs. A backdrop of mature trees include, copper beech, walnut, sycamore, wild cherry, ash and oak. We continue to plant with the future in mind.
No passing traffic, no intrusion, just you and a wonderful natural habitat, home to a variety of wildlife. Listen to woodpeckers going about their daily business, and owls calling across the valley. Watch waterfowl swimming on the lake and, in summer, raising their chicks and if you're quiet enough you may see deer, foxes, badgers and heron. Binoculars are provided for you to observe if you are a keen wildlife watcher!

For a different perspective in summer, take the little rowing boat for a trip around the lake.

NEW FACILITY FOR OUR CANINE GUESTS
In addition to the spacious gardens here at Polgwedhen, which our canine friends enjoy, we now have a brand new custom made secure paddock area for them, which they can access directly from the veranda.
So, our human guests can relax, safe in the knowledge that their dogs are happily contained alongside them. The clever design of the veranda gates allows dogs to move freely but securely between the paddock area, the veranda and the inside of the Lodge.
These pictures are January dreary but imagine summertime foliage and flowers - your dog will find cool spots beneath the shady trees in the paddock.
We can't wait to welcome the first dog to try it out!
